Tips to Become an Attractive Man

Attractiveness is more than skin deep.

When you want to become a more attractive man, it helps to understand that in addition to physical appearance, your mannerisms and your personality are very important as well. Because each man has his own features and attributes, maximizing your strong points while minimizing your faults will make you more attractive to others.

1. Improve your hygiene habits. It’s OK to have tousled hair and a frayed spot on your blue jeans, but it’s not OK to smell as if you just finished working out at the gym. Opt for clean clothes, and brush your teeth before meeting others.

2. Get into shape if you’ve been ignoring an increasing waistline. You don’t have to be a male model, but you do have to show that your health is important and that you respect your body and your overall appearance. Compare your height and weight to a recommended healthy standard (see Resources below).

3. Smile and make eye contact when you’re speaking to others. Looking another person in the eyes is an attractive trait in a man, and it makes the other person feel as though they are important. Smile often to let them know that you are approachable.

4. Move and speak with confidence. Confidence in a man is very attractive; it signifies an inner strength and self-respect. If this is difficult for you, practice in front of a mirror until you’re ready to meet and speak with others.

5. Compliment your companions. Everyone enjoys receiving a compliment; just make sure it is a valid one. Choose something specific about the other person; an article of clothing, their hairstyle or even the way they responded to a situation and mention it to them. Resist intimate compliments unless you know the person very well.

6. Listen to what the other person is saying instead of talking about yourself. Most people enjoy the idea that someone is interested in their opinions, so pay attention during the conversation. Reinforce your interest by asking one or two question that relate to the topic.

7. Educate yourself on current events in order to converse intelligently with others. Knowledge and integrity are attractive virtues in any man. In addition, take up a sport or a hobby that reflects your personality and shows others that you enjoy life.

8. Keep trying to improve your level of attractiveness to others, even if you suffer some setbacks along the way. Becoming attractive and maintaining that attractiveness is an ongoing effort.

• Don’t be a phony. If you have to put on an act, it’s not attractive. Strive to enhance yourself in areas where you feel comfortable and you will come across as confident.
