How to Play Ouija Board

Ouija boards are popular in America.

First introduced in 1890, Ouija boards, also known as talking boards, have become very popular with the American public. They are used for divination, spiritualism or just simple entertainment for people of all ages. The most popular variation of the Ouija board is made by the Parker Brothers.

Things You'll Need

• Ouija board
• Plachette

Instructions

1. Set the board up on a hard flat surface.

2. Place the planchette on the board. If a planchette is not available, a small, clear drinking glass can be used.

3. Have the participants place their fingertips lightly on the planchette.

4. Ask the board a question, or invite a specific spirit to join you.

5. Wait for the planchette to move. Participants should not force the planchette to move.

6. See if the planchette spells out any particular words or numbers that may make sense to any of the participants.

Tips & Warnings

• Some people prefer to light candles around the board, usually for atmosphere.

• You may want a nonparticipant present to write down the answers that are spelled out to your questions.

• Some people believe that the Ouija board is dangerous or evil. The decision to use a Ouija board is up to you. If you are uncomfortable at all with using the board, don't use it.

• If you prefer, you may want to form a protective circle around the Ouija board and the participants using the board. Invite only specific spirits that you know and trust into the circle.
