1
Use the can opener to remove the bottom of the coffee tin. Once it is gone, you should have a large tube.
-
2
Glue the end of the yarn to the inside of the coffee can. Use a fair amount of glue to make sure that the yarn remains in place. Let the glue dry completely before you move on.
-
-
3
Wrap the yarn around the coffee can. Wrap it tightly and do not leave any space between the lengths of yarn. As you progress, you will see that the yarn begins to obscure the coffee can, and it often forms a pattern of diagonals of different colors. You should continue wrapping until the entire can is covered.
-
4
Glue the other end of the yarn to the inside of the can. If necessary, cut the yarn before gluing. Pull it tight before you glue, and hold the end in place until the glue sets. The card holder will not work unless the yarn is taut all over.
-
5
Insert cards between the strands of yarn. You can mount 30 to 40 standard cards in a tiered fashion on this Christmas card display stand.

Tips & Warnings
If you like, you can replace the plastic lid of the coffee can after you wrap it. Then place a small Christmas tree or other figurine on top of the display stand. As you fill it with cards, the figurine or tree will stand above them.
If you use a handheld can opener, you may find that there are sharp edges on the bottom of the can. Once the can is wrapped in yarn these will no longer be an issue, but as you wrap you will need to be careful.
