Evaluate your dog for signs of myiasis. Dogs with this condition may have very moist skin. In addition, worms may be present in the affected area.

If you suspect myiasis in your dog, take him to the vet immediately. Your vet will give a complete physical exam and make a diagnosis.

Create a treatment plan for your dog. The vet will shave the affected area to get a full view of the infestation. She will then remove the maggots from your dog’s skin. The skin around the infestation will take some time to heal.

Minimize the chance of recurrence. Dogs that get urine and feces on their skin have a higher chance of developing myiasis. Wash your dog off immediate if you observe signs of waste on your pet.
