Installing Car Audio Amplifiers
Audio amplifiers can provide you with higher volume and better quality sound in your vehicle's system. They also can allow for new additions to the system such as speakers or subwoofers. Even a small amplifier can be a great investment to the value of the vehicle.

Things You'll Need
- Wire cutter
- Audio amplifier (600 to 1200 watts)
- Bolts or zip-ties
- Heavy grade wire
- Standard audio wiring

Open the speaker compartments or remove the door panels (depending on where your vehicle speakers are located). Disconnect the wire leads from the connection ends on the speakers.

Remove the stereo system in your vehicle, and disconnect the other wire ends from it. Pull the connection wires through the vehicle and out.

Place your newly bought amplifier in an enclosed location. Some good ideas for this can be under seats or in the glove box. Be sure to secure the amplifier with bolts, zip-ties or some other device.

Run a new heavy grade wire from the stereo box to the amplifier. Be sure to run the wiring through the doors or the floor of the vehicle. Connect and twist the ends. Solder a large bead over the ends.

Run standard audio wiring from the amplifier to the speakers. Again, twist and solder the ends.

Turn on the vehicle and test the audio system. Adjust the amplifier settings as desired.

Close the speaker compartments or reattach the door panels. Then replace the stereo system.
