While anyone can get cellulite, it is much more common in women than men. Usually focused on the thighs, buttocks and stomach area, cellulite has a dimple-like appearance, and is often likened to cottage cheese due to its puckered and varying characteristics. Some people are more susceptible to cellulite than others, and even quite thin people sometimes have it. Since cellulite consists of fat deposits underneath the skin, most people aren't able to completely eliminate it. You can, however, do many things to reduce its appearance and smooth your cellulite.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Multivitamin
  • Cellulite -reatment lotion
  • Dry body brush
  1. Step 1

Exercise. If you lose weight overall, you'll decrease the size of the fat deposits, thereby reducing your cellulite. Exercise will also help to tone the area, making for a smoother look. Aim to get at least 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise about four times a week. Incorporate weight training into your fitness plan to tone your body further.

  2. Step 2

Eat a healthy diet. Cut down on the fat and salt you consume. Excess fat will increase your cellulite, and salt will make you retain water and toxins, which can exacerbate cellulite. Aim to consume many fresh fruits and vegetables, and stay away from alcohol and caffeine.

  3. Step 3

Drink plenty of water daily. Regular water consumption will help to flush toxins from your body, making for smoother skin. Up your water intake if you've been sweating.

  4. Step 4

Apply a cellulite-treatment lotion to the area. Most cellulite-treatment products contain caffeine. When applied externally, caffeine has been shown to reduce the appearance of cellulite. When consumed internally, caffeine actually worsens cellulite, so stay away from coffee and other caffeinated beverages.

  5. Step 5

Get regular massages. Massage helps to break up the fatty deposits that cause cellulite. In addition, it stimulates toxins in the affected areas, allowing your body to flush them away. This makes for smoother skin and less noticeable cellulite.

  6. Step 6

Start dry-brushing your body daily. Use a body brush and apply circular motions to stimulate the area. This will help to increase circulation, encourage toxin release and support lymph function. Make dry-brushing part of your daily routine, performing it prior to your shower.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a self-tanning lotion on the affected area. Cellulite is less noticeable on tanned skin.
  • Take a multivitamin daily to ensure you are getting adequate nutrients.
  • Do not smoke. Smoking has been shown to exacerbate cellulite.
