Acne scars are the result of pimples or blackheads not healing properly and picking at or touching the pimple or blackhead will most definitely lead to scarring. Acne scars on the face can be disturbing and lead to low self esteem. Here are some steps to help reduce the appearance of or get rid of acne scars on the face.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Water
  • Fruits and vegetables
  • Vitamins
  • Soap
  • Acne cream
  1. Step 1

Stop picking or touching the sores even though they are painful or you want pick at them or pop them. This can leave excess oils and dirt on the skin, cause redness on the skin, break or damage the skin and actually increase the appearance of acne scars.

  2. Step 2

Make changes in your diet. Green vegetables and fruit will add the right amount of vitamins in your body and help your skin to breathe and glow. Drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day and avoid oily or spicy food. Decreasing toxins in the body and skin will gradually help to heal scars naturally.

  3. Step 3

Wash your face at least twice a day with detoxifying soap that will open pores and cleanse them. A large selection of soaps will help aid in the prevention of acne and help reduce the effects of scarring. Try to find one that won’t over dry your skin.

  4. Step 4

After thoroughly washing your face with a good soap use an acne cream. There are many great creams available for healing the skin. Look for ones that contain vitamin E and or lavender as they can help promote the healing of damaged skin. Some creams can contain Benzyl Peroxide which will help prevent new pimples from starting. But, it can dry the skin. If you decide to try one of those start with a small amount once a day then gradually increase usage.

  5. Step 5

Avoid the sun because it can increase the appearance of scars and damage your skin with ultraviolet rays. If you do have to be out in the sun make sure you wear a good sunblock. Look for a sunblock with a high SPF, but doesn’t contain a lot of chemicals and oils that can clog your pores even more.

  6. Step 6

See a dermatologist if all else fails and the above steps or do not help or maybe they did not help enough. There are many treatments and options available and your dermatologist can help you decide which one is best for you.
