How to Make a Fleece Ski Cap
Ski caps don't have to be dull and boring, especially if you make them yourself. One simple seam, and you have yourself and your family new hats. You can even personalize them if you want. If you need a gift idea for a few people on your Christmas list this year, this is it.

Measure around the person's head you are making the hat for and add 2 inches. Use this measurement for the width and 12 inches for the length. Cut out the piece of material. If you are making this for a gift, measure someone's head who is about the same size or age.

Fold the material in half with the right side of the material together. Sew up the seam to make the material look like a tube.Turn the material right-side out.

Fold up about 2 inches at the bottom of the hat. From the top down about 2 1/2 inches, make a cut. Do this every 2 inches to make a fringe. About 3 to 3 1/2 inches from the top, tie the decorative cord around it tightly.

Try the hat on the person it's for and adjust the cord to fit right at the top of his head. If this is a very small child, cut some of the fringe off at the top. Then hand-stitch a couple of stitches at the knot in the cord to keep it in place.
