Best Way to Insert Contact Lenses

Many people find it very difficult to insert contact lenses in their eyes. They will spend long irritating minutes fussin' and fightin' with the contacts until they give up, ask for help, or end of breaking the lens. Follow these simple steps and you will never regret purchasing contacts!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Multipurpose contact solution
  • Contact case
  • Soap
  • Water
  • Hand towel
  1. Step 1

Wash your hands in the sink with soap and water and then dry your hands with the hand towel. You are now about to clean your contacts before placing them into your eye. If you do not wash your hands properly it may cause complications and irritation to the eye.

  2. Step 2

Place one contact lens on the palm of your hand and pour some multipurpose contact solution in your palm. Pour out enough solution to cover the entire lens in liquid. With your other hand, rub the lens gently against your palm with your pointer finger in a circular motion. This will allow any unwanted dirt to be removed from the lens that may cause irritation to the eye.

  3. Step 3

Properly place the lens on your right index (pointer) finger. (If you are left handed just switch hands) Add a drop or two of the contact solution to the cup-shaped lens that is now on your finger.

  4. Step 4

With the same hand that you are holding the contact lens on you will gently bring down your bottom eyelid with your middle and ring finger. Look up towards the ceiling and slowly place the contact lens into the bottom portion of your eye with your index (pointer) finger.

  5. Step 5

Slowly look down towards the contacts placement and close your eye. The contact if placed correctly should set on your iris properly. If the contact folded in your eye repeat step 4 to remove the contact and try again. If the contact does not settle properly close your eyes and slowly move them from side to side until they get in place. If they are bothering your eye a bit add some contact drops to soothe them.

Tips & Warnings
  • Females that wear make-up, it is always best I personally feel to put on contacts before applying make-up. If you apply the make-up first because you do not need the contacts for seeing and only for color be sure your hands and the contacts are properly cleaned. If they happen to irritate your eye you will smear all your make-up.
  • Be sure never to share contacts with anyone, the eye is very sensitive. Be sure also not to rub your eyes when wearing contacts serious eye injury can occur.
