The roll shuffle in tap dancing combines leaps, brushes, spanks, shuffles and more leaps. The outcome has somewhat of a rolling feel and look to it--thus the name. The steps are not complex; however, it always takes time to get the order of the steps memorized.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Tips & Warnings
  • Note that the combination makes 18 sounds (taps) and the count is: "and 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 and 6 and a 7 and 8."
  • Put the steps in sequence: spank (back brush), leap, brush, hop, spank, leap, brush, hop, spank, leap, shuffle, hop, shuffle, hop, brush, hop.
  • Remember that the brushes are not brush steps, just brushes. The spank is a back brush but there is no step involved in this instance.
