During the Christmas season, communities and families come together to celebrate the season and often to create holiday-themed artwork to display in their homes and express the meaning of Christmas. Shrinky Dink art offers something different than the typical ornaments. Shrinky Dink sheets are extremely durable and can last for many years. Start with this easy-to-make baby Jesus Shrinky Dink.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Shrinky Dink sheets
  • Pencil crayons
  • Scissors
  • Cooking sheets
  1. Step 1

Put one Shrinky Dink sheet rough-side face up (one side is obviously smoother) on your workspace area. Shrinky Dink sheets are sold at local crafts stores and at the Shrinky Dink website (See Resources).

  2. Step 2

Draw an outline of baby Jesus in a manger with a brown pencil crayon. Draw the outline slightly larger than you want it because it is going to shrink.

  3. Step 3

Color in the manger and the baby Jesus with your pencil crayons. Make sure you color in every part. Refer to the picture above to get color scheme ideas.

  4. Step 4

Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F.

  5. Step 5

Cut out your Shrinky Dink baby Jesus, leaving a space around the edge to make up for the shrinking.

  6. Step 6

Put the cut-out baby Jesus on a cookie sheet with the rough side facing up.

  7. Step 7

Place the cookie sheet in the oven for 60 seconds and then quickly remove it from the heat.

  8. Step 8

Give your baby Jesus some time to cool off before displaying.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add a magnet strip to the back of your baby Jesus so you can use it on your refrigerator.
  • Don't take your eyes off the Shrinky Dink when it's in the oven, as it can burn in a matter of seconds.
