Work the Junction System in "Final Fantasy 8"

The Playstation role-playing game Final Fantasy 8 uses a system called "junctioning," which allows your characters to raise their offensive and defensive capabilities by attaching magic spells to their basic attributes.

Instructions

    • 1
      The Guardian Force Ifrit

Acquire a Guardian Force for each of the characters that you are going to junction magic spells to. The first Guardian Force you can acquire is named Ifrit, and you must gain him at the fire cave at the beginning of the game to advance the storyline.

    • 2
      Drawing magic from an enemy

Gain magic spells by using the "draw points" found throughout the game or by drawing magic out of enemies during combat.

    • 3
      The main menu

Access the game's main menu, and then go to the "Junction" submenu.

    • 4
      Choosing attributes

Choose your character's attributes from the Junction menu, such as "Hit Points," "Strength" or "Magic."

    • 5

Junction elemental attack spells to your Strength attribute to make your attacks stronger and add that element to your physical attacks. If you junction a lightning spell to Strength, then your attacks will deal lightning-based damage.

    • 6

Attach healing spells to your Hit Points to make your character harder to kill.

Tips & Warnings

  • Connect elemental spells to your defensive attributes to make your character take less damage from that element.

  • Put different elemental attacks on different characters so that you don't find your party unable to damage elemental-based enemies.
