If you have a pair of subwoofers that you would like to put in your vehicle but you do not have the money to buy a box, this article is for you. You will learn an easy way to build a double subwoofer box that will fit in most vehicles.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Plywood
  • Wood screws
  • Wood glue
  • Power drill
  • Circular saw
  1. Step 1

Cut two sheets of plywood approximately 4 feet long and 2 1/2 feet wide. Cut two more pieces of plywood of approximately 4 feet long and 3 feet wide. Cut two sheets of plywood approximately 3 feet long and 2 1/2 feet wide.

  2. Step 2

Take the template that comes with your subwoofers and place it on top of one of the pieces of the 4 by 2 1/2 half feet sheet that you have cut. Trace out the template with a pencil leaving two circle marks as well as marks for the screw holes that are on the template. If your subwoofer doesn’t have a template simply measure your subwoofer from the inside edge of the ring on the outside of your subwoofer. Take that measurement and use a compass draw a circle on the ply wood to mark where your subwoofer will go and then make another matching circle next to it with at least a 1-inch space between the two. Cut out the two circles that you have traced onto the plywood. Drill out the screw holes that you have traced on the plywood as well.

  3. Step 3

Attach that piece of plywood to the two 4-foot by 3-foot pieces of plywood that you cut out earlier and will be the sides of your box. Use glue and wood screws to attach them together. Line up the edges of the 4-foot length sides of the plywood, creating a U shape with those three pieces of plywood, making sure that the piece with the holes cut out are on top. Attach the other 4-foot by 2 1/2-foot piece of plywood and attach it to the bottom using glue and wood screws. Attach the two pieces of 3-foot by 2 1/2-foot pieces of plywood that are left to either end of the box using glue and wood screws.

  4. Step 4

Drill out a small hole big enough two run two speaker wires through. Drill that small hole either on the bottom of the box or on the back side of the box, but not on the top of the box. Attach the speaker wires to your speakers and then place your subwoofers into the two holes you cut and screw them in. Run the wires out through the small hole you drilled out and your double subwoofer box is ready to install.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can adjust the size of the box if you have smaller subwoofers.
