When is the Best Time to Tan Outside
-
1
Plan your outdoor activities or lying out between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. During these hours the ultra violet rays are at their peak.
-
2
Evaluate your skin tone. Based on your skin tone, the peak tanning hours can also be peak burning hours. Between 10:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. you can burn very quickly (some people in less than thirty minutes) without protection. Wear clothing or protection on areas that you do not want to get sun during this period.

3
Apply the right accelerator or sunscreen for your skin tone. There are several lotions and oils available to accelerate tanning but if you burn easily you may not need much of this. If you burn easily, make sure you have a sunscreen on with at least an SPF (sun protection factor) 15. Some tanning lotions and oils contain moderation's of SPF that may work well for you.

Keep cool. During peak hours of the day you are likely to get hot and uncomfortable. To be able to endure the heat, keep relief handy. You can do this by using a fan, keeping yourself hydrated with cool drinks, spraying yourself with a water bottle, or floating in a pool of water. Keeping yourself moist will help you tan faster.
-
5
Moderate your time each day. To ensure that you do not burn, limit your outdoor time for about an hour a day (timing will vary). Take a timer out with you if necessary to help you keep track of time.
-
6
Examine your skin periodically. Because sun exposure has been linked to skin cancer you should check your skin often (See resource to examine your skin). Sun exposure has also been linked to premature aging. The sun will give the skin a nice sun kissed look with added freckles and even sun spot, untimely "aging" your skin with more and more sun exposure. (See resource for more causes of aging).

Tips & Warnings
Make sure to wear ultra violet protective eye-wear or sunglasses.
Too much ultra violet sun exposure can damage your skin, causing premature aging and even skin cancer. Sunburns can also increase your chances of getting skin cancer.
To decrease your risk of getting skin cancer, always wear sun protection. It is always best to wear a sun protector with an SPF 15 or higher.
