You will learn how to make decorative non edible gingerbread ornaments that you can give as gifts or keep for the holidays.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 2 Cups Cold Water
  • 1 Cup of Salt
  • 2 tbs ground ginger
  • 2 tbs cinnamon
  • 2 tbs cloves
  • 2 tbs molasses optional
  • Cookie Cutters ~ Can use any style you would like great for any winter/fall holiday
  • Cookie Sheets
  • Extra salt for top of cookies ~ Adds a little sparkle to them~
  • Drinking Straw to make holes
  • Colored ribbon For Hanging
  1. Step 1

First you will need to mix all of your dry ingredients thouroughly making sure that all of the spices get included through out the mixture. Next you will want to add the wet ingredients knead the dough until it is completely mixed. It is very important that you incorporate all of the dry with the wet leaving anything unmixed will make your ornament look funny.

  2. Step 2

Second you will want to preheat your oven to 325. Now that you have your oven on you can turn your dough out onto the surface you wish you cut them out on. It isnt necessary to over flour this surface very lightly at best. Next roll your dough out to 1/4 of an inch and cut with your cookie cutters. Place on a cookie sheet and with the drinking straw make a hole in the top of each one for the ribbon to go through.Sprinkle them with the extra salt. Bake them in the oven for 20-30 minutes they should not be soft like a regular cookie it is normal for them to be hard.

  3. Step 3
This is the finished product absolutely fabulous!!!!
