create your strategic action plan for reaching your goals

The best way to reach a goal is to create a strategic action plan. Sometimes we feel like we're never going to get what we want or life is never going to get any better. If you have a plan then you can accomplish almost anything. Lets start you on your way to a better life by creating your strategic action plan now. Simply follow the steps below. I recommend in the beginning only working on 1 or 2 goals at a time so you don't get overwhelmed. After you are well on your way with your goals, you can add more. Things You'll Need:

  • You
  • A piece of paper or use the picture in this article
  • Pen
  • A vision of the life you want
  • and finally the commitment to change
  1. Step 1

Start by choosing a something you really want. When your thinking about what you want, make sure you remember to use the SMART approach (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Reachable & Time-able). It must be something you can actually see yourself accomplishing.

  2. Step 2

Write it out on a piece of paper or use the picture in this article. For example: I want to lose weight. That wouldn't be a smart goal. Try changing the wording of it to I want to get reach a goal weight of ___ pounds, be healthy and fit by June 1st, 2009.

  3. Step 3

Now, let's break it down even further. Let's think of the 5 steps you need to accomplish this goal. Draw 5 steps on your sheet of paper and inside those steps start writing out the first thing you need to do to get closer to your overall goal. We can also consider these steps your mini goals. For example: Some of the steps would probably include eating healthy, starting an exercise program, drinking more water. Don't forget to use the SMART approach when writing up your mini goals.

  4. Step 4

Once you have your mini goals written out then it's time to break it down even further. Look at your first step. Think about what actions you can do today to bring you closer. It might sound confusing but it's really not. For example if my first step was to start eating healthy then what I would do today is clean out my cupboards and to go shopping for some healthy foods to keep in the house.

  5. Step 5

Last but not least, keep focusing on your next step. Post your goals on the fridge or somewhere visible so you can see them and they will be constantly in your mind. Keep doing things to move you forward in your goals and in your life.
