Cheap international flights are not an easy commodity to come by. While there are frequent domestic airfare sales, international flights seems to stay expensive constantly. There are, however, ways to save several hundred dollars on your fare. This article will show you the best way to acquire cheap international flights.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Calendar
  • Computer
  • Internet access
  1. Step 1

Schedule your trip loosely. You will not find cheap international flights if you are ridged with your departure and arrival dates. Flexibility is your friend when shopping for airfare. Take off 2 weeks from work, but only expect a 10 day vacation. This will give you some wiggle room for your flights.

  2. Step 2

Book cheap international flights between 30 days and 6 weeks ahead of time. Anything over 6 weeks, the airlines aren't worried about unsold seats, so they don't lower the price significantly. Anything under 30 days, the airlines know you are getting desperate and they raise prices.

  3. Step 3

Check cheap international flights for a departure date of Tuesday or Wednesday. If you leave in the middle of the week, you can save hundreds of dollars. Weekends are peak times, so airlines don't have to be as competitive with their prices.

  4. Step 4

Fly to London first if you plan on traveling to Europe. Cheap international flights are much easier to come by if you first arrive in London.

  5. Step 5

Visit AirTech.com for cheap international flights. This is a website that clearly lists and finds the best prices for airfare if you plan on traveling to a foreign country. The link is provided in the resources section.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try an airfare consolidator if you have a last minute international flight and can't pay an arm and a leg. The link is provided in the resources section.

on 11/25/2008 Thanks, I like the comment about 30 days to 6 weeks, I've been sort of figuring this out on accident, but it really makes sense now.
