Things You'll Need:
- Jump Rings (2-3)
- Basic Necklace Clasp (1)
- 2” Head pins (4)
- A main bead (1/2 to 1 1/2 inch in size) such as a glass Briolette
- Variety of beads and charms that coordinate with main bead (approximately 5)
- A few bead spacers for added interest
- Chain for Necklace
- Needle Nose Pliers
- Round Nose Pliers
- Wire Cutters
-
Step 1
String on one pearl (or bead of your choice) and one bead
spacer (opptional) onto a head pin. Repeat stringing your accent beads onto head pins (do not string on your main bead). You should only need about 3 different beaded head pins. -
Step 2
With the needle nose pliers grip the head pin just above the bead spacer
and bend the pin at a 45 degree angle. -
Step 3
Place your round nose pliers at the point of the bend. Pull the wire around one side of the pliers to make a loop large enough to fit on the chain.
-
Step 4
Wrap the wire around the base of the loop to the top of the bead tightly.
-
Step 5
String a head pin through the top of the briolette leaving about a 1/2” on one side.
-
Step 6
Bend the two ends up until they cross. Using your needle nose pliers pinch the wires at the crossing point until the wires straighten.
-
Step 7
Trim the shorter end so it is 1/8 of an inch from the bend.
-
Step 8
Grip the two wires with the needle nose pliers so the top of the pliers is aligned with the top of the short wire. Bend the longer side to a 45 degree angle.
-
Step 9
Make a loop and wrap as before.
-
Step 10
Add a jump ring to one end of your chain. Do this by twisting open the ring (do not open it like a book, it will weaken your ring) then sliping it on to the last link of one of the ends of the necklace. Close the ring back up.
-
Step 11
String on your completed bead clusters and main bead in a pattern that is pleasing to you.
-
Step 12
Add another jump ring to the unfinished end of the chain, slip on our clasp and then close the jump ring tight.
