How to Upload Music to a Mini SD Card on a Computer

Many cell phones or other media devices will accept a mini SD card or a micro SD card so that you can play media files on them. To do this, you first have to get the music or other media files onto it. Here are the steps to take.

Instructions

1. Rip media to your computer. You can rip music off of a CD easily using iTunes or Windows Media Player. Either application is easy to use. You can also download mp3's from the internet. Make sure when you purchase mp3's that you only get mp3's which are not encoded so that they will play on your media device.

2. Locate the music files on your computer. They will usually be in your My Music folder, inside your My Documents folder. If the media you wish to load to the SD card is not in this folder, you probably have specified a different folder to store the files in. If this is the case, then you should know where to find them. Open the folder containing the media you wish to copy. It should contain several folders sorted by artist or album of the music to transfer to the mini SD card.

3. Insert the mini SD card into the SD card adapter. The adapter usually comes with the mini SD card. You will also need either an SD card reader on your PC, which is becoming very common, or an SD card to USB adapter. Either way, insert the SD card into the computer.

4. This should open a window asking what task you would like to perform. Select the option to open the folder. If this option doesn't appear, you can find the mini SD card under your My Computer icon.

5. At this point you should have two folders open. Drag the folders of music from the computer folder to the mini SD card folder. It may take several minutes to transfer all the data.

6. When data transfer is complete, remove the mini SD card, insert it into your media device and enjoy the music!
