Step 1
Pick the right plan. Evaluate your current minute usage. You should be receiving a breakdown of minutes used with your monthly cell phone bill. If you are going over in minutes, you need to reevaluate your plan and consider upgrading to a plan with more minutes to avoid per call fees.
-
Step 2
Get a family plan. Family plans are always the best choice anytime there are 2 or more cell phone users in the house. You can usually add up to 4 additional lines for about ten dollars a phone per month. Instead of having individual plans that will run anywhere form $30 to $50 a month you can usually get a plan with combined minutes for about $50 total for both lines.
-
Step 3
Make sure your plan includes nationwide long distance for free. If not, you will be billed for what is referred to as "Roaming Charges" everytime you make a call outside of your immediate coverage area. These charges can quickly add up. Also, inquire about free mobile to mobile coverage, which will allow you to call anyone else that has the same cellular phone carrier as you for free.
