Things You'll Need:

- Epsom Salts
- Tylenol
- Acupuncture
- Rest
- OB/GYN Doctor
- Good absorbancy pads
-
Step 1
Awareness. In the process of your prenatal care, your OB/GYN doctor may let you know that something is going wrong. Often they will verify this by checking your hormone levels. In some cases of pre-miscarriage, your hormone levels will drop.
-
Step 2
Bleeding. If you begin bleeding, do not use tampons even if you use them normally - switch to pads for the time being. Always brand makes a very thin, but very absorbant pad called Infinity. They are great, especially the nighttime ones. 100% cotton panty liners are also good if the spotting is light.
-
Step 3
Communicate with your Doctor. Keep in contact with your doctor. They may suggest a D&C done in the office. If you can be patient with the cramping and bleeding, stay home and allow your body the time it needs to help process this miscarriage. If you begin bleeding heavily, then it is time to go to the emergency room. 1 pad every 1/2 hour or more is too much bleeding. But it is up to you - if you feel at all uncomfortable or feel you're bleeding too much, call your doctor immediately or go to the emergency room.
-
Step 4
Relax. Miscarriages are often going to have cramping and lower back pain. Baths with Epsom salt are very good for you. Use two cups of Epsom salt for each bath. Rest at home as much as possible, and if you must work, don't take on stressful or tiring tasks. Using reusable hot pads can be a lifesaver. The best ones are the grain-filled microwaveable ones. Place those on tight lower backs or the areas of your painful cramps.
-
Step 5
Explore Alternative Medicine. Acupuncture is wonderful for relaxing you and for allowing your body to let go. Your acupuncturist may also recommend Chinese herbs that will help you retain your strength and your calm as you go through this process.
-
Step 6
Check-in again. After the miscarriage, see your doctor. It's crucial to check that you're healthy in the aftermath and to discuss when you can try again.
-
Step 7
Communicate with your friends and family. It's important to use those who love you as support while you recover from your loss. They most likely want to know that you're ok and to be there for you.
-
Step 8
Reflect. Honor what has happened. If you can, plant a tree or a flower to honor your loss afterwards.
