How to Make Your Own Business Cards

Business cards are a necessity in todays world, but they can also be pretty expensive. There are a number of programs out there, but I prefer to use MS Word 2007.

    Things You'll Need

    • Computer
    • MS Word
    • Printer
    • Business Card Paper
      • 1

Open Word 2007 and open a new document. Notice there are two types of "new document" buttons. Click on the New... (versus New with no ...) button. This will open MS Office Templates.

      • 2

Click on Business Cards and then the "print" link. This will open Microsoft's various business card templates.

      • 3

Select a template you like that meets your needs. Remember it doesn't have to be exactly what you want. You'll be able to edit the template once it's open.

      • 4

Add your information. Some things to consider including: your company, name, professional title, company address, business phone, cell phone, email address, url.

      • 5

Edit the template to suit your needs. Change the colours, graphics, and text to fit your style. You can edit the various parts of the card under the Design, Layout, and Format tabs.

      • 6

Print out the cards on business card paper. If you get the paper that is already perforated the edges will be clean and professional.

    Tips & Warnings

    • If you can't find the New... command button try clicking on Customize Quick Access Toolbar

    • Don't include information on your cards you don't want to get out. For example, be careful of giving out your cell phone number on a business card if you aren't prepared to receive a number of business calls on that phone.

    • Don't include too much information on your card and clutter it up. Too much makes what is there harder to see.

    • Some templates may be user created. Microsoft does not guarantee these templates will work.
