Things You'll Need:
- Halloween Costumes and candy/treat to pass out
- Safety rules for kids
- Dinner menu
- A way to wind down at the end of the night
-
Step 1
Buying/making Halloween costumes can be stressful but try to make it as fun as possible. Look for used costumes online at places like Ebay or Craigslist. Keep it simple and do your best if making a costume. Don't be up all night doing it or YOU won't enjoy Halloween!! When making a costume find ways to help such as using a fusible web strips or no sew glue to adhere fabric to fabric or embellishments. Once you have the costumes done and ready you are really on your way. That's the hardest part! Make sure all of the pieces of each costume are laid out the night before so you aren't scrambling. Don't forget the camera!! And extra batteries!
-
Step 2
Decide what you'll need for safety rules as you trick or treat. Glow sticks so kids are visible. Rules about staying together and crossing the street. No eating until an adult checks the candy. Don't go into a stranger's home no matter what. These are a few examples.
-
Step 3
Plan a dinner menu so that everyone isn't eating candy only!! Soup and Sandwiches, Chili, Hoagies and Cheesteaks, pizzas and salads are some of our quick and easy favorites!
-
Step 4
Wind down at the end of the night. Its a lot of activity rolled up in one day. Put in a movie and look through all of the candy! Build a fire out back and wrap up in blankets. Play games.
-
Step 5
Think ahead so it can be a fun day for all!!
