Treat Chapped Lips

Chapped lips can be unattractive, but not only are they not appealing they can be very painful. When the weather changes, when there is not much air in a room at night when you are sleeping, it will cause your lips to dry out. This article will lend a couple of tips of how to keep your lips moist and happy.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Lip balm
  • Lipstick
  • Polysporin Ointment
  • B-Complex Vitamins
  • Iron
  • Water
  • Tea
  • Carmex
  • Baking Soda
  • Zinc Oxide Ointment
  1. Step 1

Using lip balm with sunscreen as well as using lipstick with sunscreen, can help keep your lips moist and avoid them from becoming dried out. Make sure to reapply the lip balm after meals and/or drinking liquids.

  2. Step 2

You can also use Polysporin Ointment to help avoid infection when lips become to chapped (this can be spotted when you notice your lips are bleeding or cracked).

  3. Step 3
    Vitamin B-Complex
    Vitamin B-Complex

Including iron and b-complex vitamins are a great way to avoid scaling of the lips.

  4. Step 4

Making sure you are drinking plenty of water helps keep your lips hydrated, you can also drink herbal teas to help supply water to your system. Remember the number one cause of dry and chapped lips is dehydration.

  5. Step 5

Using Carmex for your chapped lips is ideal, the product contains beeswax and phenol. The beeswax acts like a shield and locks moister in, while the phenol soothes your irritated lips. You can find a link to buy Carmex in the resource section of this article.

  6. Step 6

Some people have reactions to toothpastes that have many ingredients, such as tarter fighting toothpaste. These toothpastes can actually cause dryness of the lips. If you notice you maybe one of those people, using baking soda based toothpaste is your best option.

  7. Step 7

Like mentioned in the introduction of this article, while sleeping dryness can occur with your lips. This can cause cracking and a painful experience, especially during the colder seasons. You can help this by using zinc oxide ointment before going to bed, it will help protect your lips and keep them moist during the night.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try to avoid licking your lips when they are chapped and dry, when you lick your lips you are actually making the issue worse. You are removing the natural oil that is on your lips and you can end up irritating your lips more than helping your lips.
