How to make Balsamic Vinaigrette

Who doesn't love a good salad with balsamic vinaigrette? If you love those restaurant salads but want to save money and make one just as good as theirs, follow this recipe for Balsamic Vinaigrette and pair it with the Asian Pear salad for a great anytime salad.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 Tbs Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1 Tbs Dijon mustard
  • 2 Tbs extra-virgin olive oil (cilantro flavored is great for this recipe)
  • 3 Tbs. canola or corn oil
  • 1 Tbs. finely chopped fresh basil
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • Garlic Powder to taste
  1. Step 1

    Add Balsamic Vinegar

  2. Step 2

    Spoon in Dijon Mustard

  3. Step 3

    Add extra-virgin olive oil - by varying this ingredient -using different brands of oils or different flavors of oils, you can have lots of fun with this recipe and give it your own style and flair.

  4. Step 4

    Add Canola oil. For a thicker salad dressing, reduce the amount of canola oil by half and replacing the remaining half with more olive oil.

  5. Step 5

    Add chopped basil, salt, pepper and garlic powder.

  6. Step 6

    Shake until well-blended and serve

  7. Step 7

    Refrigerate any remaining dressing

Tips & Warnings
  • Balsamic dressings go great over greens or just fruit.
  • Tart or sour fruits are great in salads with this dressing because the dressing tones down these flavors
  • Refrigerate and shake before each use
