How to make a hamburger helper not from the box directions.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1/2 of a yellow onion
  • 1 /2 box of whole wheat pasta.
  • 1 large can of tomato sauce
  • 1/4-1/2 cup of ketchup
  • 1 tbls. barbecue sauce.
  • 1/4cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. Mrs. Dash
  • 1tsp garlic salt
  • 1tsp. salt and 1 tsp. pepper
  1. Step 1

    Fry hamburger and onion in a fry pan, add salt, pepper, Mrs. Dash, garlic salt, cook until pink is gone from the hamburger.
    Now, add the whole wheat pasta, or pasta of your choice.

  2. Step 2

    Now, add tomato sauce brown sugar, ketchup, and 1 tbl. ob barbecue sauce.
    Bring all these ingredients to a boil.

  3. Step 3

    Then stir and reduce heat to lo-or simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until pasta is done.

Tips & Warnings
  • Using whole wheat pasta makes this recipe healthier.
  • If your watching your sugar replace the brown sugar with Splenda,
  • as always make sure young children are away from the stove.

on 2/17/2009 This sounds great because you can really control the seasonings and make it just the way your family likes it. Some of the HH's are too spicy or not flavorful enough or have a taste someone in the house doesn't like. Your way looks easy enough and yields a more customized result.
