Did your IPod just freeze up or stop working? It may not be broken. Before replacing your IPod, here's how to fix the common frozen IPOD problem.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    IS THE HOLD LOCKED?

If the 'HOLD' function is locked, a small lock symbol will appear on your screen. To release from locked mode, simply shift HOLD slide back and forth once or until the locked icon disappears.

If this does not work, follow one of these methods to reset:

  2. Step 2

    RESET IPOD WITH CLICK WHEEL

    1. Again, shift the hold button back and forth ONCE.

    2. Press the MENU button and CENTER button simultaneously until the Apple start-up logo appears. This works the same way as restarting a PC.

  3. Step 3

    RESET IPOD (OTHER)

    1. Again, shift the hold button back and forth ONCE.

    2. Press the MENU button and PLAY button simultaneously until the Apple start-up logo appears. This works the same way as restarting a PC.

  4. Step 4

    MANUAL POWER RESET

This method requires you to cut all power to the IPOD.

    1. Remove IPOD from charger (if applicable).

    2. Allow battery to drain completely OR remove battery from IPOD (SEE WARNINGS)

    3. Allow IPOD to sit without power for 10 seconds.

    4. Reinstall battery (if removed), and reconnect to IPOD to charge (if battery is drained).

    5. Restart IPOD

Tips & Warnings
  • DO NOT attempt to remove battery from IPOD without manual or expert knowledge of your IPOD. Damage to IPOD and Battery can occur is proper procedure is not followed.
