Make Money Pumpkin Painting

Pumpkin Painting is a fun activity the whole family can enjoy and profit from. You can make hundreds of dollars painting pumpkins. Here are step by step directions on how you can make money pumpkin painting.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pumpkins
  • Acrylic paints
  • Optional: Stencils, transfers
  1. Step 1

Visit a pumpkin patch and bargain with the patch owner to get a great price on pumpkins. You will want to buy between 100-200 pumpkins. Buy a variety of sizes. You should be able to purchase the pumpkins for 1/3 to 1/2 off regular retail. To make money pumpkin painting, you need to buy pumpkins at a low price.

  2. Step 2

Clean the pumpkins and wipe dry.

  3. Step 3

Use your imagination painting pumpkins. Use acrylic paints (oil paints dry to slowly). If you are doing a complex design you may want to draw it on first with a pencil or thin marker. You can use stencils from the craft store or transfer designs from a kit (see resources).

  4. Step 4

Paint a variety of designs. You may want to paint sports logos, goofy faces, bats etc. Remember that your time is valuable. To make money pumpkin painting you will want to keep most designs simple but fun.

  5. Step 5

You can also add hair, hats and other items to spiff up your pumpkins. Do not carve the pumpkins. Painted pumpkins will last for a long time but carved pumpkins do not.

  6. Step 6

Sell your pumpkins at craft shows, yard sales, etc. To price the pumpkins, take the regular retail price of the pumpkin (not the low price you paid) and add on a fee for your time and labor. Charge according to how complex the design is and how large the pumpkin is. You will make money pumpkin painting, for your design work and from the difference in the low price you paid vs. the retail price.

  7. Step 7

Get the whole family involved. Your family will love to make money pumpkin painting. Painting pumkins is fun!

Tips & Warnings
  • Take notes on which designs sell best, so you know what to make more of for the next year.
  • Be sure to see what the deadlines are for craft shows etc. in your area and sign up on time.
