How to increase your websites backlinks

According to google, increasing backlinks is the most important factor in getting a website higher in search rankings. Everyone has already heard you should create backlinks, however rarely do I see any actual advice as to how to create them.

1. Write articles: Writing articles is one of the best ways to increase backlinks. You can either write them yourself or hire someone to write them for you. If you feel uncomfortable writing, you should atleast give it a shot. Hubpages.com is a great place to start, hubpages allow is a great place to get started and they have a great community that will help with anything you need. 2. Social networking: Ever heard it's not what you know it's who you know? This couldn't be more true when it comes to marketing a website on the internet. Not only does this gather backlinks for you on the social networking sites, you also meet tons of people with similiar interest as you. These people you are meeting with similiar interesst is a great way to exchange links, exchange knowledge, and they are potential customers. There are many social networking sites, just do a search.

3. Exchanging links: Exchanging links is one of the more effective methods to build backlinks to your site, and one of the hardest. When you contact other site owners who have sites related to your own, have a link to there site already posted on yours. Send them a message explaining why you like thier site, and a direct link to where they can find thier link on your site. Let them know that if you havn't heard from them within a week you will remove the link as you will be taking that as they are not intereseted.

• Never ad your link to link farms (pages with nothing but links)
• Be careful not to pick up to many links to fast as this is a giant red flag for the search engines
• Be careful of directory's. Directories can be a good method to use for backlinks, but don't submit to every single directory you see. These things come and go stick to the well known directories such as yahoo and dmoz.
