Step 1
Think outside the black! As in black coat. It's ok to have a basic black wool coat, but we all have them! Stand out this winter in another neutral such as camel, tweed or hounds tooth!
-
Step 2
If you already have a neutral coat, now is the time to pick a coat in a bright fun color! Try red, light blue or green to add some life into those long winter days!
-
Step 3
Though the swingy look in coats is in fashion, you can't go wrong with a classic shape such as a pea coat. Pick the length that works for you. Petite girls should get coats that hit around the waist or slightly above. Taller girls can go a little longer.
-
Step 4
Look for added extras such as inner pockets, Thinsulate lining, fleece hand pockets or even a hood for added warmth when you need it.
-
Step 5
Interesting details makes the coat. Make sure you love the buttons for example and if you don't, get some new ones and sew those on instead. A belted coat is also perfect for adding shape and definition to your waist. Fur or faux fur collars or cuffs add even more fun to your basic winter coat.
