Step 1
Use a lot of oils in your skin such as pure Vitamin E oil found in health stores (such as Vitamin Shoppe) Olive Oil, almond oil, baby oil or Avon's Skin So soft bath oil after showering.
-
Step 2
Dry skin can be caused by a deficiency of Vitamin A- Consider supplementing with Cod Liver Oil- a good source of Vitamin A and D.
-
Step 3
Use Aloe Vera lotion or Cocoa butter lotion as often as needed, after showering or taking a bath, and before going outdoors in the cold weather.
-
Step 4
Use Cetaphil moisturizer - Many dermatologists recommend Cetaphil. It can be found in any supermarket and drug stores.
It is excellent for dry, sensitive skin. -
Step 5
Try not to shower with hot water all the time. Use warm water for your skin. Don't use harsh soaps for your skin, use milder body wash or milder soaps such as Dove and Oil of Olay.
-
Step 6
Drink a lot of filtered or bottled water everyday- this keeps your skin from being dehydrated. Replace sodas with water.
Drink coffee in moderation, coffee can dry up the amount of water you place in your body. -
Step 7
In the winter, keep your thermostat at 68- 75F. When our thermostat is higher than this and although our home would be warm, this can dry up our skin.
-
Step 8
Alpha-hydroxy acids slough dead skin cells and encourage the formation of new skin cells. Foods that have alpha-hydroxy acids are apples, milk, grapes, tomatoes, citrus fruits and blackberries.
Eat these foods as much as you can to have softer skin.
