Things You'll Need:
- Will power
-
Step 1
Do not use credit cards. They will only get you into more debt. If you can't afford groceries or gas for your car or for a metro card, you need to cut back on something. If you are using credit cards to buy food, you know you are being frivolous someplace in your spending. Make a list of what you are spending cash on every day. Whether it's coffee and breakfast or lunch, lotto, scratchies, flea markets or what ever you are buying, you will need to sacrifice. Bring food to work, stop buying those things you do not need. You will have cash for what you need.
-
Step 2
Wait until something goes on sale.
-
Step 3
Be creative. making gifts for loved ones is unique, special and thoughtful. It really is the thought that counts and being with loved ones, NOT about material things!
-
Step 4
Work over time. If you are asked to do it, do it. Even if it's a Saturday for a few hours or an hour during the week. It all adds up. End of the week, you will have extra money, bank it and there ya go.
-
Step 5
Get a second job. Work in the restaurant near you hanging coat and checking them. Work behind a bar. Work in the bakery at the counter. Work in sales at the museum.
-
Step 6
Stop ordering in and eating out.
-
Step 7
Take the train back and forth to work instead of the express bus which is 3 bucks more.
-
Step 8
Do your laundry instead of sending it out.
-
Step 9
Use coupons!
-
Step 10
For all toiletries, shop at a 99 cents store. You can get quality tissue papers, zip lock bags, toothpaste, shampoo, mouth wash, paper towels, all for 99 cents each! Now that's saving.
-
Step 11
Save, Save, Save. I don't care if you have to sock away 5 bucks a week or less. Put it in your savings acct and watch it add up. Start early, like in the summer time, by Christmas, you'll have a nice bundle for gifts, a holiday outfit, what ever.
