How to Clean a Glass Stove Top or Cooktop
Glass stove tops provide durability and eye appeal and are often found on electric ranges. This energy-saving cooktop transfers heat directly from the electric coils beneath the glass to the pot or pan above in a method called induction cooking. A clear glass cooktop can magnify stain material left to sit on the surface. Things You'll Need
- Paper towels
- Glass or ceramic stove top cream
- Cotton cloths
- Glass or ceramic stove top cleaning pad
- Razor-edged scraper

Absorb wet spills or stains off the glass surface with a paper towel. Discard soiled towels and continue to blot the moisture to remove it.

Squirt a quarter-sized amount of glass or ceramic cooktop cleaner onto a cotton cloth. Buff the stove top with the cream to loosen and remove stains.

Moisten your cleaning pad with water. Apply a nickel-sized amount of the cream cleaner to the cleaning pad. Gently scrub cooked-on food stains or scuffs from pots and pans.

Scrape off hard-to-remove stains with a razor-edged scraper. Position the scraper at a 45 degree angle to the glass stove top. Gently scrape the stain material off the stove. Follow up by scrubbing residue off with the cleaning pad.

Rinse your glass cooktop surface by wiping it with a damp cloth. Dry the surface with another cloth.

Clean your glass cooktop after each use to prevent stain buildup.
Always allow the stove top to cool before cleaning.
To avoid permanent scratches, never use scouring pads or abrasive cleaners that aren't made especially for glass or ceramic cooktops.
