Things You'll Need:
- Time for your exercise program.
- Know what type of exercise routine you will continue to do.
-
Step 1
--Walking As Exercise--The least expensive and easiest form of exercise is walking. This exercise, which can also be a great past time, is great exercise as it suits all levels of fitness. Anyone can start a walking exercise program at any time, it is the intensity and how often your do it that differs. Walking is also a social exercise that can be done any time of the day with multiple 'training partners'.
-
Step 2
--Exercise Regime--Start your exercise regime at a low level of intensity and build it up gradually over a period of weeks. This is important for the longevity of your exercise program. If you start off too hard or with an extended length of exercise routine, you could end up with an injury which would require time off and could stop you from exercising all together.
-
Step 3
--Cardiovascular Exercise--If you have not walked, as an exercise, or are not in good cardiovascular shape you should start off by walking for 10 minutes each day. Then, increase your walking route it by 5 minutes every 2 weeks. To make your walking exercise regime more interesting walk a different course every few days or find additional walking partners to walk with you each day of the week. Your pet is always a willing participant for your walking exercise program.
-
Step 4
--Fitness Program--Walking can also be done at a fitness center where you have a variety of exercise equipment to add to your fitness program. There are professional trainers there that will answer any questions you may have as you begin to exercise and workout. Take advantage of the fitness center's trial period to ensure you are satisfied with their equipment, service, and that this is something that you will continue to do.
-
Step 5
--Exercise Opportunities--If you still aren't sure what you should do to begin exercising, beyond walking, then take a look at the many sporting activities you could participate in such as golf or tennis. These are fun social activities, you can meet new people, and they provide adequate walking or cardiovascular workout.
