Make Muhammara

Muhammara is similar to hummus, only it uses red peppers instead of chickpeas. Very simple to make and very quick to make.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 12-ounce jar roasted red peppers, drained
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 1/2 cup panko (japanese bread crumbs)
  • 2 T olive oil
  • 2 t fresh lemon juice
  • 1 t ground cumin
  • 1/4 t cayenne pepper
  • salt
  • pita chip
  1. Step 1

Blend all the ingredients except the pita chips in a food processor until a coarse puree forms.

  2. Step 2

    Season with salt.

  3. Step 3

Put in a bowl and serve with the pita chips

Tips & Warnings
  • the recipe i found calls for pomegranate molasses (or lemon juice if you can't find it or don't want to buy it), which i have yet to come across in any supermarket. if you have it, by all means use it and tell me how it tastes.

on 10/16/2008 I made something similar a while back, with roasted red peppers, but this sounds a lot more flavorful than mine! May have to give this a whirl....especially during the holidays, what with the festive red thing :)
