How to Make Pear Almond Tart

This is a little change of pace. It's good
too. You could even use Apple and Pear slices. Just alternate them in the lay out of the design.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 pkg. frig. pie crusts;divided
  • 1/3 cup pear or peach preserves
  • 1/4 cup butter; softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup ground almonds
  • 1/3 cup vanilla wafer crumbs
  • 1/4 tsp. almond extract
  • 1 Tbsp. powdered sugar
  • 2 lg. pears; sliced thin
  • 1 Tbsp. Lt. brown sugar
  1. Step 1

    Preheat oven; 400 degrees.
    Put crust in a tart pan; trim excess.
    Bake 5 min.
    Take out of oven; let cool.

  2. Step 2

    Put preserves in crust; spread around.
    Cream butter.
    Gradually add sugar; beat well.
    Add egg; beat well.
    Mix in almond, crumbs and extract; put over preserves.
    Bake 20 to 25 min., til brown.
    Take from oven.
    Sprinkle powdered sugar over the top.

  3. Step 3

    Turn oven to 425 degrees.
    Put pears in a spiral design in crust.
    Bake 15 min.
    Sprinkle Br. sugar on top.
    Bake 1 more min.

Tips & Warnings
  • Serve with ice cream --- UUMM!!
  • Don't forget the oven-mitts; the pan will be HOT!!
