Step 1
Decide what your goal is: do you want fun socks, or practical socks? Casual socks or dress socks? Socks that will last or socks that may rip, but you don't care because holes give them even more character?

If you choose practical socks, go to Kohls, Target or Walmart. You'll be able to get loads of socks for a great price. These stores are great for plain white, black, or gray socks. They also have dressy socks for work and other more formal events. These socks are practical and will last you a long time. There is no reason to pay a lot for simple socks - I mean, plain socks are plain socks, right?

Step 3
If you want fun socks, check out a sock store or a sock kiosk in a mall. You'll find selections of toe socks, colorful socks, crazy socks, and more. You might pay a bit more, but these are fun socks, so it's worth it! I love to have fun with colorful socks, because with long pants on and shoes, no one can see them unless I show them! Be adventurous! Go outside of your comfort zone! Enjoy yourself! If your socks do show with your shoes, make sure they look good with the shoes - fun socks are great, but if you look silly because they clash with your shoes, it's not worth it! Don't want to go to the mall or a sock store? Check out a local clothing store or boutique. You never know what you'll find until you try. If a pair don't work out for you, who cares? Socks aren't a huge investment.

Step 4
Think about why you love socks! You can wear a totally plain outfit to work, but you can have crazy socks on under your boots and no one will even know! Or, you can wear plain, comfy socks and no one has to know that you're having a plain sock day. It's your secret, or something you share with others, and that's the best part! I love puffy socks...they're comfy and make shoes fit better if they're a tiny bit too big.

Step 5
Remember: socks can get holes. They can rip. So have fun when they do! Fix the holes with fun colored thread. Patch up socks with other old socks. If you love crazy socks and are willing to patch your socks together, you can have the craziest, mixed up socks in town!

If you need special supportive socks, get them. Fashion is great, but wearing the right socks for your health or safety is more important.
