Regular use can be considered as using it to handle financial finances and other daily purchases, while occasional use would be like using it only for vacations and online shopping.

  2. Step 2

Identify what card features are important to you. Make a list of all the different card features you know are offered on prepaid cards and identify which features you need, which ones you want, and which ones you can do without.

  3. Step 3

Identify what you are willing to pay for a prepaid card. Make a list of all the different fees associated with applying and maintaining a prepaid card, this includes: activations fees, transaction fees, bill pay fees, cash withdrawal and balance inquiry fees. Go through your list and write down ideal and maximum amounts that you are willing to pay for each fee.

  4. Step 4

Search for different cards using a card comparison site. Compare the cards on the site with the lists you made from the previous steps to find one that matches your ideals.

  • Use a card comparison site that is designed for prepaid credit cards only. Avoid using a card comparison site tailored to regular credit cards, these sites often use the same credit card format for comparing their prepaid cards. A useful prepaid card comparison site is www.prepaid101.com.
