Adobe Photoshop is the premier image editing tool used by professionals and freelance graphic designers alike. Here is a brief tutorial on how to create drop shadows on text.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Open Adobe Photoshop. Go to File, then click New. Choose a white background and any width and height for your canvas. Use RGB color mode. Leave it as Untitled, this is just a simple tutorial!

  2. Step 2

Find the Text tool, its symbol is the letter T. Click inside your white canvas and type in the words "Drop Shadow". Make sure the font color is black or a color that shows up well on the white canvas.

  3. Step 3

Anti-alias the text in your font toolbar to Crisp or Strong. This is just so the drop shadow shows up better. Then go to your Layers menu and highlight the layer with the text on it -- it will have the name "Drop Shadow" if that is what you typed in. Right click the layer and go to Blending Options.

  4. Step 4

In Blending Options, the first attribute should be Drop Shadow, click it and customize the settings as you'd prefer. The default setting is a dark gray shadow. Click OKAY, and you are done!
