People that work really hard to provide for their family, pay taxes, and be fiscally responsible typically have no passion for a thief. A thief typically has no regard for hard workers as well. Correction! Thieves have enough regard for hard workers to secretly or sometimes blatantly STEAL THEIR STUFF! Protect your assets from would-be criminals in the following ways, so they won’t be criminals – or at least make it very hard for them.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A keen eye
  • Good judgment
  • Common sense
  1. Step 1

Protect your passwords. Change them often and create passwords that will be very difficult for others to figure out. When using publicly networked computers, be mindful of who may be lurking over your shoulder watching you key in your password.

  2. Step 2

Don’t leave expensive items in plain view. There is some truth to out of sight, out of mind. Sometimes people become very complacent when leaving valuable items in plain view. In so doing, it is very tempting to a criminal to want to get his/her hands on the item even if this means illegally gaining entry.

  3. Step 3

Lock your doors. It has often been said that locks are to keep honest persons out because dishonest ones will find a way. However, by keeping the doors locked, it makes entry a little bit harder.

  4. Step 4

Be mindful of your surroundings. Sometimes it is easy to spot a suspicious-looking person because more often than not they have unsavory looks about them. They seem to watch their backs, and look out of the corners of their eyes. Although it is not easy to categorize a criminal, sometimes their actions tell on them.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not make yourself and your family vulnerable to thieves.
  • Keep your keys handy when approaching your vehicle.
