Very easy recipe for scottish shortbread.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  1. Step 1

    Thoroughly cream sugar and butter.

  2. Step 2

    Add 2 1/2 cups of the flour and mix thoroughly.

  3. Step 3

    Turn out onto a surface floured with remaining 1/2 cup of flour.

  4. Step 4

    Knead dough until it cracks on surface.

  5. Step 5

    Roll out 1/4-inch thick and cut out with cutters.

  6. Step 6

    Prick cookies with fork tines and place on ungreased cookie sheets.

  7. Step 7

    Bake at 275° for about 45 to 55 minutes, or until lightly browned.

Tips & Warnings
  • Makes about 2 dozen shortbread cookies.
