Remember S&H Green Stamps? At one point in our nation's history, these reward stamps were a household name. Families everywhere collected these Stamps feverishly in order to obtain great merchandise from the S&H Idea Book catalog. What most people do not know is that S&H is still around! Even better, S&H Green Stamps are still valid! Today you can exchange them for their new digital currency known as "S&H greenpoints" or cash. This article will explain the steps required to correctly redeem your old S&H Green Stamps in order to help you obtain some value from them.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • S&H Green Stamps (see notes below)
  • A computer with an internet connection
  • A telephone
  • Packing materials
  1. Step 1

First, decide what you want from your S&H Green Stamps. You have two choices: you can exchange them for S&H greenpoints or cash (actually a check, in U.S. dollars). If you want cash, S&H will give you $1.20 for every 1200 Green Stamps that you submit. If you desire S&H greenpoints, the exchange ratio is 1 to 1: one Stamp will be converted into one S&H greenpoint.

Don't know much about S&H greenpoints? Then go to www.greenpoints.com to enroll and learn about how to earn and redeem greenpoints. S&H has over 1,000 reward items to choose from and their selection includes kitchen appliances, toys, sporting goods and outdoor gear, as well as gift cards to popular retail stores and chain restaurants.

All Green Stamps mailed to the S&H Processing Center must be affixed to official S&H Stamp Books OR they must be affixed to sheets of 8 x 11 paper in an orderly fashion. No loose Green Stamps will be accepted.

  3. Step 3

Write a brief note stating the nature of your intent (i.e. you want cash or greenpoints) along with the following information: Your S&H Member ID Number (you'll need one if you want greenpoints), your name, address, and daytime phone number. You can sign up for an S&H member account at www.greenpoints.com. See link below.

  4. Step 4

Once you've packed in a box for shipping (don't forget to include the note you wrote from step #3), mail your S&H Green Stamps via INSURED MAIL to the following address:

    S&H Green Stamps Processing Department
1625 South Congress Avenue, Suite 200
    Delray Beach, FL 33445

  5. Step 5

Processing usually takes 3-4 weeks. Assuming all is well with your Stamp submission (see tips and warnings below), you should expect your check or greenpoints soon thereafter!

Tips & Warnings
  • DID YOU KNOW? The first S&H Green Stamps were issued in 1896 in Jackson, Michigan?
  • DID YOU KNOW? S&H once produced more Stamps than the United State Postal Service?
  • DID YOU KNOW? S&H greenpoints can be earned today in these grocery store locations: Lowes Foods, Foodtown, D'Agostino and Harps Foods. (See store links below.)
  • S&H greenpoints is now on Twitter. @greenpoints
  • According to S&H Green Stamp redemption policy, you can only redeem Stamps that you have earned. So, if you are thinking of buying S&H Green Stamps on eBay or at a garage sale for some quick cash, don't bother! S&H will NOT honor Stamps received in that manner.
  • S&H Green Stamp Certificates also exist, but they are now expired. According to reliable sources, S&H will NOT honor these certificates due to their age. Don't waste your time with these unless you want to hold on to them as a nostalgic collectible.
