This is how to Grow a pineapple this is pretty easy to do once you have a good pineapple

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fresh pineapple
  • potting soil
  • 2 gallon pot
  • place near a window for winter
  • water
  • fertilizer
  • green thumb
  1. Step 1

You need to find a pineapple in a store that is not too old
I got my start at Walmart a few years back.
How to find a pineapple that will grow a new plant.
To do this you need to go to the produce section find a good healthy
looking pineapple. Reach in the center of the crown and try to pull a leaf
out if it will not detach from the crown there is a good chance it will grow!

  2. Step 2

When you arrive home use a kitchen knife and cut the crown off close to the top of the fruit.
After that strip the leaves off for about 1 inch from the bottom exposing the root buds most time there are small roots all ready started.

  3. Step 3

Have a 2 gallon pot and fill it with potting soil I use the miracle grow
potting soil it has nutrients in it ready to grow a nice plant.
Place the crown in the dirt and press firmly around the base of the crown
making sure the soil is in good contact with the root buds. Also make sure it is buried about 1 inch to 1.5 inches at the base of the crown.
Next place the pot in a warm area with full sun a green house is perfect or a southern window. They like to be watered once a day and must drain freely.
You should have a pineapple in about 1.6 years and when it turns golden yellow color it is ripe and very sweet!
They do not have a tart flavor like the green ones you buy in the store it will be the best one you ever tasted!

Tips & Warnings
  • Use some fertilizer about once a month manure or 10-10-10 work best to keep the plant dark green and growing the best.
  • They also like to be around other pineapple plants so you can use a small space for many plants I have over 130 plants now in a few years and harvested 24 ripe pineapples this year and made jam
  • Enter the plant in your county or state fair I got 2nd place last year going for first this year!
  • After you harvest your first pineapple most plants make more shoots each one of these will grow a new plant.
  • If it has not grow new shoots fertilize it and it should make 3 to 5 shoots so you can plant them also.
  • It is important that the water drains from the bottom of the pot and dose
  • not sit in water they do not like wet feet.
  • the more sun the better these do very well in greenhouses and like to be moved inside for winter.
  • The plants can reach a diameter of 6 foot
