Things You'll Need:
- Dinner rolls, in dough format
- Your hands
- egg wash
- poppyseeds or other dark seed seasoning
- baking sheet
-
Step 1
Okay, so what kind of dinner roll are you supposed to use? You want a roll that comes in dough format, like, the Grands canned biscuits (the butter flavor is really good). Why? Because you are going to be shaping the dough into the shapes of spiders, so you want the biscuits or rolls flexible enough to deal with the manhadling.
-
Step 2
Follow the directions for the rolls and preheat the oven. Separate the rolls out according to their preportioned cuts, and set four to the side - this is assuming the can is an eight roll count. You want to end up with an even number of heads and bodies.
-
Step 3
Take the first four, and roll them gently in your palm until their round in shape. This will be the body of the spider.
Take the other four rolls, and one at a time, cut them into two pieces, one third and two thirds in size. The one third piece will be the head, and you can roll this into a round ball, place against the body already on the baking sheet, push firmly into the body, and leave it there. -
Step 4
Taking the two thirds piece, break it into four equal parts, and roll into thin logs about an inch to an inch and a half or so in length. These are the legs.
-
Step 5
Place a leg on either side of the head, making a U shape around the head to create two legs up top. Take the other two legs and place one on either side of the body, pointing downward, to create two legs on the bottom.
-
Step 6
Coat each spider in a light egg wash, and sprinkle lightly with poppyseeds or another dark seed seasoning to make a speckled effect on the spider. Bake according to the directions for the dough, and serve warm!
