Make a Monster Spiderweb
Make a Monster Spiderweb

Okay...so you've got your monster spider. Now where in the world do you put him? In his web of course.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

You want your web to be downright HUGE. So grab a ladder and hike your way on up to the edge of your roof. If you're feeling ambitious, go ahead and start at the top of your roof.

Pick a point prett high up, and tie of your clothesline. You want a point that will tie nicely to another point, like a tree or another piece of your roof, that is at a nice angle to what you've already got.

Find points in your yard that will tie into a circle, or as close to a circle as you can get. Use the zip ties to anchor your outside circle. You want an even number of points when you're done if possible.

  2. Step 2

Now that you've got your outline, you need to create the spoke of the web. Going from point to point, tie more clothesline to make an intersection in the very center of the web. Don't over do it, you dont want a bunch of verticle lines, but enough to shore up the frame is perfect.

  3. Step 3

Now is the fun part. Start tying off pieces of clothesline, following the frame pattern, to each spoke, moving from the outside inward to the center. The more circles you create, the more realistic it gets. Once you've got your web set up, place the spider somewhere near the top of the center, and bend his legs until he's in a position your happy with.

Now he's got a home, and you've got a monster spider to scare the Halloweeners!

Tips & Warnings
  • Place the web up high enough and over the door so that trick or treaters have to walk underneath it to get to the candy.
  • Buy some of that fake cotton spiderweb stuff at the local halloween shop and tack it loosely to the frame work of the clothesline to add a little extra oomph to the web
  • Take small black trash bags, stuff them with newspaper, paint some white eyes and some glittery wing outlines and safety pin them to the web to create the spider's fly dinner.
  • Please make sure the web is high enough off the ground that it wont accidentally strangle any kids who come running up the walkway too fast to see the web while they're trick or treating.
  • Make sure the anchor points of the web are firmly secured. You don't want the web collapsing and potentially pulling down a piece of your roof or a tree.
