Things You'll Need:
- Perseverance
- A good friend
- Yourself!
-
Step 1
Stay committed. Make this decision and discipline yourself. Take it very seriously. If you cannot be serious about it, you will not be able to achieve your goal. This is the most important step.
-
Step 2
Delete all your pornography, throw away any tapes or DVDs, and even block the sites that may tempt you. Do not let yourself be tempted.
-
Step 3
Ask for help. Addiction to porn can be a definite problem. There are people known as sex addicts, and porn can be in this category. Go to a close friend for support. Do not let yourself be alone in your journey. It may be a little awkward at first, but friends are supposed to face their struggles together. Use this as an opportunity to build a stronger friendship.
-
Step 4
Keep yourself distracted. Statistics show that a majority of porn is watched out of boredom. Do not let yourself be bored. Keep yourself doing something productive. Examples: talk to friends, work out, go out, cook, garden, play video games, etc. Do not let yourself fall back into things out of boredom.
-
Step 5
Set goals and reward yourself. If you feel like you cannot handle it all at once, plan a time line. Start by only watching it twice a week, and then once a week, and then not at all. Reward yourself when your goals are met [ i.e. buy yourself something new like an Ipod, treat yourself out to dinner, etc]. Spoil yourself when you’ve met a goal. A friend can come in handy for this as well.
-
Step 6
Pray. As corny as it may sound, keeping in touch with your spiritual life can help you get off your addiction. Use religion to your advantage!

but I love the way you get your points across.
Thanks for a very well written and informative article.
Sure to get any Porn addict thinking. I also believe
Porn can lead to other things not so healthy as well.
