A good granola makes a healthy breakfast or any-time snack.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 cup plus two tablespoons corn or canola oil
  • 1/2 cup plus two tablespoons honey
  • 6 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup bran
  • 1/2 cup toasted wheat germ
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups coconut, unsweetened
  • 1/2 cup chopped dried apricots
  • 1/2 cup chopped dried
  • cranberries
  • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/2 cup sesame seeds
  • 1 1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup chopped dates
  • 1 1/2 cup raisins
  1. Step 1

    Heat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large saucepan, melt the butter and sugar together.

  2. Step 2

Remove from saucepan and add all the ingredients, EXCEPT the dates and raisins.

Divide the granola onto three cookie pans. Spread out as much as possible.

  3. Step 3

Bake each pan for approximately 20 minutes.

Stir the granola around on the pan at least 3 times during baking.

The granola should still be soft but well-browned.

  4. Step 4

As you remove each pan, put the contents in a large bowl and stir in one third of the dates and one third of the raisins.

Cool completely. Store in well sealed jars for one week. Refrigerate for longer storage.

    Enjoy!
