Stock photography goes hand in hand with the internet. Millions of freelance photographers are able to submit their images to many different stock photography distributers who in turn sell it to other sites. One of these sites is called Big Stock Photo. If you wish to join Big Stock Photo, please see the link in the references section of this article (below).

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Quality. This is one of the most important aspects of stock photography. In order for your photograph to be approved it must be a high quality photograph. This means bright colors, high contrast, focus, justification, etc. The photo must be marketable. Don’t bother submitting anything you would not like to see hanging on your wall.

  2. Step 2

Size is incredibly important. Most sites will not accept anything less than 800x600, however higher resolutions are much more desirable and are easily attained with any modern digital camera.

Desirability. Don’t send them any more pictures of your kids or your animals unless they are doing something extraordinary and the photo meets all other eligibility requirements. Look specifically for subject specific topics to photograph.

Keywords are important to anything you submit. These are the method that the photos will be found on the site, however they must be pertinent to the subject of the photograph or it will be rejected.

Categories must be defined as a way for consumers to browse photographs for the ones they want. Make sure to accurately categorize your photo. Ex. The picture of your cat is not going to be so wonderful that it will sell from the electronics category. This type of categorization can also lead to the photos rejection.
