Caring for your lips

Having chapped lips can be very unattractive and painful. Chapped lips are very common especially in the winter. You can prevent your lips from becoming chapped by keeping them moist. The tips in the following steps, will prevent your lips from becoming dry and chapped.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Lip balm with SPF 15
  • Plenty of fluids
  • Other preventive measures
  1. Step 1

Drink plenty of water to keep you hydrated, and to prevent chapped lips. Dehydration can cause you to have chapped lips, so remember to always drink at least 8 glasses of fluids each day.

  2. Step 2

To prevent and treat chapped lips, always wear a lip balm. When choosing a lip balm, choose the one that contains SPF 15. The lips need as much protection from the sun, as your skin.

  3. Step 3

Avoid licking your lips. Some people have a tendency to lick their lips very often. The saliva will cause your lips to dry out very quickly, and leave your lips dried and chapped.

  4. Step 4

Be careful when wearing certain lipsticks. Wearing a matte lipstick can leave your lips looking extra dry.

  5. Step 5

Vitamin B complex, Omega-3 fatty acids, and zinc are great for preventing and treating chapped lips. Eat foods that are rich in these vitamins, to keep your lips looking smooth and beautiful.

Tips & Warnings
  • Exfoliate your lips regularly, to get rid of excess dead cells.
  • Use Vaseline, especially at nights before going to sleep, to keep your lips moist.
  • To prevent your lips from being infected, treat them immediately with a medicated lip balm.
  • If your lips are not healing while using the over-the-counter medication, consult your doctor immediately.
