How to Plan a Fun Winter Break
As soon as the kids get adjusted to the school routine, it seems like winter break is here. Winter break, in the United States, is the annual school vacation that occurs before Christmas and continues until a few days after New Year’s Day. Schools usually give the kids between one and two weeks off. This can vary from school district to school district. The time off can be affected by which days of the week Christmas and New Year's Day fall on. Winter break also can refer to the time off college students have in December and January. College students generally get about 3 to 4 weeks off for the holidays.

Get together with friends. Planning parties with friends that you don't get to see regularly during the school year can be great fun. Older kids and adults will enjoy catching up. Younger kids will enjoy spending time with a playmate.

Do a fun activity that you've been putting off. A day trip to the museum is a great treat to give yourself. A hike with a friend can be heavenly. A movie marathon at your local movie theater can be magnificent. It's especially fun to do that if you choose holiday themed movies during the Christmas season.

Don't go where the crowd will likely be. Popular attractions like Disney World can be exceptionally busy during school breaks. Plan on waiting in long lines if you plan to visit a popular theme park.
